We Welcomed Our Third Baby

Stepped Away for a Bit

Hey friends,

If you’ve been around here for a while, you might have noticed things got pretty quiet over the last few months. No new posts, no fresh blogs, barely any updates on social media. I promise it wasn’t because I lost passion for this space—it’s because life handed us the most beautiful, life-changing surprise.

In January, we welcomed our third child into the world: A sweet little boy we will refer to as Squish on social media. He arrived quite fast in our car during our 1 hour and 45 minute drive to the birth center. What a ‘wild ride’ that was! (I will post a blog with the whole story here soon) We are all totally in love!

I can’t even put into words how full my heart feels right now. Going from two kids to three has been a wild, wonderful shift. There’s more laundry, more noise, more tiny socks everywhere… but also more giggles echoing through the house, more little hands reaching for mine, and so much more love than I knew was possible. Our older two are completely smitten—they fight over who gets to hold the baby first, sing lullabies (terribly but adorably), and have already claimed their roles as big siblings with pride.

This isn’t my first rodeo with newborns, but somehow the third time feels both familiar and brand new. I know the sleepless nights will pass, the cluster feeds will ease, and one day I’ll blink and this tiny human will be toddling around causing chaos with the others. But right now? I’m soaking it all in. The sleepy cuddles, the newborn smell, the way their tiny fingers wrap around mine—I’m giving myself permission to be fully present for these fleeting early weeks and months.

I am so excited to be back and fully here on this space giving you stories about life with three children, tips I’ve learned this time around, our homestead moving into the spring season, or just the chaotic joy of it all. In the meantime, thank you so much for your patience, your sweet messages checking in, and for sticking around even when it was quiet. It means more than you know.

For my first appearance back into the world of homesteading and self sufficiency, I will be co-hosting the next homesteader series sponsored by the MSU Toole County Extension Tomorrow, Tuesday March 24th starting at 6pm! Please consider joining me for this wonderful free event! If you missed it or are unable to attend, I’ll be posting my tried and true kombucha recipe here next week along with a link to order your own kombucha pellicle (SCOBY) from Huber Family Homestead!

To anyone reading this who’s in the thick of new motherhood (first, second, third, or beyond): You’re doing an incredible job. It’s okay to let other things wait while you hold your baby a little longer. These days are long, but they’re also so short.

With gratitude and new-mom exhaustion,

Sarah
